Another successful community event at the Hadleigh Old Fire Station drew in hundreds of local people for a foretaste of the festive spirit.

The weather kept fine and there were stalls inside and outside, all raising money for a good cause.

For the Hadleigh & Thundersley Archive, it was a chance to sell our walking maps and the very popular Hadleigh Postcard Memories book by Robert Nichols, with lots of people out looking for presents. (The books are also available to purchase from Hadleigh Library and other local outlets).

With the sale of other items, we were able to raise a considerable amount towards our next two publications making further tales and pictures about the history of Hadleigh (NationalSchool) and Thundersley available to local people young and old.

It was also an opportunity to meet many more residents of old Hadleigh with an offer to us of more stories and personal photos of the old days for the Archive website, including tales of working in local shops and even in the Second World War Post Office (now the Ancora).
