I would like to know if others who use this site have any information on the thriving Scouts and Cubs that met at the old St Peters church hall at the junction of Hart Road, Kenneth Road & Church Road Thundersley. I was a member of the 2nd Thundersley scout troop which was run by skipper Stevens along with his son or son-in law. We entered a float in the Southend Carnival which was our decorated Scout cart and it was pulled by hand along the whole route of some few miles. We used to have scout camps on both the church field and at Belchamps near Hawkwell. I would also like to know if anyone has photographs of the old cottages that were immediately to the left of Dark Lane looking toward the school and also the blacksmiths shop and forge that was to the side of the White Hart pub. The Caravan site was very large with some 300 caravans at its height and, when I started living there, there was no electricity and no proper roads. In Hadleigh there was a factory which was part of the EKCO company making radios which employed many from the Hadleigh and Thundersley area. Perhaps some of the above will jog some memories and add to the archive.
