  • I have this photo also. I am able to confirm that the C/O is Major Jeffrey Edward Daniels. He was my grandfather. I think it may have been the Thundersley Platoon. In the book ‘Hadleigh Past’ by Ian Yearsley there is another photo of him with some of the men. After the war he channeled his energy into local politics, standing for and serving on both local and county councils.

  • I recognise the person on the immediate left of the C/O, wearing glasses, as Mr Joyce.  I think he was an officer who lived in a property on the left-hand side of Cranbrook Avenue. The first property on the corner was a bungalow occupied by Mr & Mrs Ward, she was my Sunday school teacher at the Salvation Army.
