My Father - E. C. Beaven

I, by pure chance, found your site when I was trying to find information regarding my father, E.C. Beaven (Ted), who was appointed Head Teacher of the school in Church Road, Hadleigh, in 1949, when I was just a little boy.  Click here for the article.

I notice you have our family name* spelt incorrectly, which is not uncommon!

After my father died in 1951 my mother and I moved back to her home town of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, where I was educated and eventually followed my parents’ lead, ending up as a teacher and eventually an ICT Educational Consultant.

I would be very interested if anyone could give me information regarding my father’s time in Hadleigh, as I was rather young at the time, and my mother also died many years ago.

I do remember watching him play cricket somewhere locally – he was also an excellent footballer and hockey player.  I must have followed that lead as I became Chairman of Rotherham Schools Football Committee and played hockey until my fifties.

{* Ed: We appreciate the correction, which has now been made.}
