History Fair in a Fair piece of Hadleigh's history
D Hurrell

The irrepressible bears are back; no zip wire, no parachutes,  just two concentrated hours in historic Hadleigh Old Fire Station,  to include …..

AGES and the Big Dig in Daws Heath (learn about our forebears;)

the chance to meet local authors, persuade them to sell you a book;

the continually refreshed display of local history with your own, your very own Community Archive;

Victory party (e.g. VE Day) celebration memories;

plus the exciting new book – Hadleigh Postcard Memories by Bob Nichols;

the chance to meet Leigh Heritage Society;

catch up with the next book in preparation: Tales out of School…

and, yes, there will be bears new and books pre-tested;  all for the bare necessity of 1 penny (whatever that is.)

  • Yes, I remember the Good Companions.  Used to go there with my mum after Saturday morning pictures at the Kingsway for a special treat. A bottle of pepsi with a straw and a cheese roll. Good old days.

  • Does anyone remember the Good Companions café at the side of the church? My father, Tom Hearn ran it through the 50s and early 60s. Any pictures?
